Housing/Shelter

This page consists of several programs and agencies that provide various services and programs for individuals that are in needing of housing, rental assistance, low income assistance, emergency shelter,  utility assistance, and various transitional housing programs.

Isaiah 58:7:  Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter--when you see the naked, to clothe him, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?

 
Abundant Faith Supportive Housing
"Haven House" transitional housing program for homeless single women and homeless women with children
American Red Cross
emergency services for disaster victims, also meals on wheels, free services.
Center for Women in Transition
Shelter offers support services and safe transitional housing to disadvantaged women and their children (Champaign, Urbana)
Champaign County Regional Planning Commissions
LIHEAP, housing, weatherization programs, emergency rent assistance, housing counseling
City of Champaign Housing Program
City provides assistance to eligible Champaign residents for housing repairs.
Contact Ministries
Services for women and children, provide food, healthcare, clothing, and assistance with rent, medical needs, and utilities. Doctor on site, Tue,and Thurs.
DOVE, Inc
assistance for domestic violence victims, programs, counseling, housing, emergency services and hotline.
Fifth Steet Renaissance/SARA Center
offers transitional housing for the homeless, a food pantry for the hungry, various programs for persons living with HIV and AIDS, a transitional youth program, and various other programs for those in need of a helping hand.
Helping Hands
emergency shelter, also provides food. Free transitional housing program.
Home Weatherization Program
provides energy conservation services (such as attic and wall insulation, storm windows, caulking, glazing, weather stripping etc.) to income eligible clients based on income for the preceding twelve months for all members in the household. Furnace tune-ups, retrofits and repairs are included with dollar limits for all work done. (A computerized energy audit is done to determine what items can be accomplished within the limit.) One hundred homes were weatherized last program year
